This Shrine is dedicated to the heroic warriors of Althena who fought and died to defend Lunar. Rest in peace my friends, you are closer to Althena than we.

Drake Stromewynd
Drake was born in the town of Merbia. His father, Jonathan, owned a weapons shop there. Drake's father was said to have been the next Dragonmaster. However, after litterally bumping into Zeppelin, who was then controled by Vassago, that all changed. Zeppelin burned down Drake's house, killing both his father and mother. Drake was however able to salvage his father's ring; The Dimensional Ring. This ring was said to have been owned by the legendary hero, Hiro. With this, a person can teleport himself anywhere. As Drake continued his quest for revenge with his childhood sweetheart, Aki, they encountered and gained new allies. Owain Glyndwr, Azuro, Michael, James Ausa, and Alysia. However, each of them were killed. So was Drake! He died fighting against Ghaleon. His new friends, Zeppelin, Vassago, Rethwyn, Celes, Raena, and Donovan tried to save him, but they were too late. Drake was killed by Ghaleon's new Tri-Blade attack. He died a noble death. Rest in peace Drake Stromewynd.

Owain Glyndwr
Owain was an odd fellow. He was a man who would carry food in his pockets in case he got hungry. Neither he nor Azuro minded the occasional piece of lint on their meat anyway. He carried around a tall staff, about the same height as he was, which was covered with black runes. After being tossed out of a bar on Black Rose Street in Merbia, he joined Drake and Aki after Aki got his staff back for him. He informed them about the Zydeans and even helped to free Zeppelin from Vassago's grasp. During his journies, Owain became a Knight of Althena. Once this occured, he seperated from the group to prepare to fight Zophar. However, he was killed in an attack led by Drake (who was actually a shapshifting Vampire named Amiya). Despite his skill and strength, Owain died. Your courage was an asset to Althena, and it shall live on through the others! |

Michael
Michael was a ninja that the party came across in the woods on their way to Vane. He had been trying to stop any bandits or Zydean members from crossing the woods. He fought with Aki after stating his belief that women warriors could not match the strength of men. After a breif fight, the party agreed to help Michael stop the evil he was in search of. Later, he joined their party. Some time later the group encountered Reldayne, Zophar's Red Fiend. After transforming himself into his dragon form, Reldayne headbutted Michael, knocking him out cold. He always seemed to be the first one in the group to get hurt. But this time, it would be his last. The blow had snapped Micahel's neck and killed him. The group had thought nothing of it, knowing of his injury prone history. He had been dead for several minutes before the group realized his fate. It may have seemed as if though you were taken for granted, Michael. But you will always be held in the highest of regards by Althena. Rest well! |
James Ausa
James was Zeppelin's mentor while he was in Vane. When the party showed up to try and stop the Blue Fiend, James gladly joined after being told that the ressurection of Zophar was about to take place. He took his claws and got ready to fight against any evil that threatened Lunar, just like his ancestors, Mia and Lemina Ausa, had done so long ago. However, in an attempt to save his friends from Rethwyn, who was thought to be an enemy at the time, James was wounded and killed. Raena wasn't there at the time, so the party had to stand by, and watch their friends life slowly slip away. James, you taugh Zeppelin everything you knew. Your teachings will live on through him, and through us. Your legacy will never die! |

Jarek
Jarek was an assasin who was sent by the Knights of Althena to kill General Ryban, the man appointed by Zophar to hold onto and protect Nall's aura. He placed no value on Althena or Zophar, he was just in it for the money. Everyone, even Vassago, found him annoying. Jarek was also killed by Rethwyn while trying to save the others from him. Despite the fact that you stole from us Jarek, your life was stolen from you. And that can never be repayed! |
Rethwyn
Rethwyn was supposed to be the Acolyte of Zophar. However those powers never really made themselves known through him. Rethwyn follwed Vassago wherever he went and always remained loyal to him. Although he found it hard to get along with the "Althena lovers", he did his best to stomach them. While Vassago often ran off to do his own thing, Rethwyn was told by him to protect the others because, at the time, they were a very weak unit. They all began to change after Donovan recieved his powers and a god took over Zeppelin's body. Zepp snapped Raena's neck. Rethwyn, and Donovan, woke up. He tried to fight the god but couldn't match his power. The god snapped all of his limbs. Donovan threw a blast of fire at the god to try and stop him, but the god saw this and threw Rethwyn in the way. As seen in his illustration, the last thing Rethwyn saw was a red energy wave coming straight at him. His body was burnt beyond all recognition. He was gone, and Donovan blamed himself for it. Thank you Rethwyn, your sacrifice will not be in vain! |

Aki Ganefield
Aki was a shrimp of a ninja with a heart bigger than the Blue Star (even though it seemed like she was constantly PMSing). She was Drake's childhood sweetheart. As a child, she was abused by her father in Lann and sent to live with her grandfather in Merbia. She was the first person to ever join Drake on his adventure. Through all the blood sweat, tears, broken bones, severed heads, etc., Aki remained strong and never said die. Even when Drake was killed she pressed on knowing that she'd see him again some day. But that day came too soon. Aki had been placed under a sleep spell by one of the gods. Donovan, Zeppelin, and Celes brought her to Merbia where she could rest. Donovan left, and the others met up with Vassago. While the others went to look for Donovan, and Vassago stayed behind to watch Aki, there was a raid on the town. The criminals broke into the house where Aki and Vassago was. Vassago had a pure hatred for Aki in him. The house was set ablaze, and Vassago left, leaving Aki behind. She died in her sleep. Awaken in the other world Aki, for now you have what you have always wanted: an eternity by Drake's side. |
Celes Garnet
Celes joined the group while Drake was still in the picture. She followed him and the others believeing that Drake was a Dragonmaster; a legendary warrior of Althena thought to no longer exist. As it turns out, Drake was merely the guardian of the real Dragonmaster: Celes herself! But the others couldn't help but wonder: why would Althena choose such a pacifist to be the warrior that would save Lunar? There was a good answer to this question: Celes was Althena, or at least part of her. When Luna decided to die as a human, she left herpowers within Lunar, but Lucia invoked those powers herself in order to stop Zophar. Celes never knew it, but she was in fact a direct descendant of Luna and Alex! With the help of Donovan's ressurection scroll, Lucia was able to place Althena's power into Celes in order to ressurect the true Althena. Celes is not really dead though. Like all descendants of Luna and Alex, her memories live on through the Goddess herself! |
